Spring is finally here, which means it’s time to pause Netflix, climb out of hibernation, and get outside to enjoy the weather. Make the most of this beautiful spring season and plan a few new activities to experience together. Here are 13 of the best spring dates that you’ll want to try out this year.
1. Plan a Picnic
A picnic is the perfect way to enjoy some relaxation and romance outdoors. Pack some sandwiches, strawberries, champagne, blankets, and an iPhone speaker (to put a soundtrack behind the whole experience, of course) and maybe even a deck of cards, and just enjoy each other’s company.
2. Take a Leisurely Bike Ride
You don’t have to go to the extreme and find yourselves biking on rock trails and up hills. Instead, find a place where you rent bikes and where there are paved bike trails. It’s always fun to cruise along on a bike while talking to your date.
3. Fly a Kite Together
Buy a kite of your own, or if you’re feeling up to the challenge, build one together with these step by step instructions. This activity would be perfect to combine with a picnic.
4. Attend a Sporting Event
Sporting events are always fun, even if you’re not a huge fan. Wear your local team’s colors and put on your best cheering voice. Sporting events always make for an exciting date, and who knows, maybe you’ll learn a little something about the sport and gain more interest in it!
5. Go to a Local Festival
All sorts of festivals and carnivals should start popping up soon! From outdoor music concerts to food festivals, there’s never a shortage of fairs to attend. Check around locally and see if there are any festivals in your area. If you don’t see any close by, make it an overnight date and travel to a near-by city that is bound to have festivals galore.
6. Watch a Movie Outdoors
With warm weather comes drive-in theaters and parks that offer outdoor movies. See what movies are playing, pack a couple of snacks and blankets, and enjoy the show from the comfort of your car. Or, if you want a more private and romantic setting, you can always set up a sheet and projector in your backyard.
7. Head to the Zoo
The zoo is another one of those places that is only open during certain seasons, and spring is one of them! Spring is one of the best times to go to the zoo not only because of the great weather, but because a lot of baby animals tend to be born in the springtime.
8. Check out a Local Winery
Taste testing different wines until you find one that you both love, yes please! Wine bars are becoming more popular across the country, and a number of restaurants also offer flights of wine for tastings. Sunday Funday anyone?
9. Go to a Farmer’s Market
If you haven’t been to a Farmer’s Market, then going in the spring is a must! Browse the stands, pick out your favorite fruits and vegetables, and use them to make a scrumptious dish when you get home. Make sure to get at least one of these must-try spring vegetables.
10. Go Kayaking or Canoeing
On a nice, sunny spring day, rent a canoe or kayak and enjoy the warm weather out on the water. Invite another couple along for some fun!
11. Try Mini-Golf
Even if you have the worst aim in the world and your hand-eye coordination is as bad as it gets, mini-golf is always an exciting date that is sure to bring all sorts of laughs — and of course a little bit of competition. Nowadays there’s all sorts of mini-golf places, some even let you mini-golf at night using glow-in-the-dark lights! This is bound to be a memorable date.
